2008, Copenhagen, Denmark
Nordhavnen invents and adds together a new chapter in the construction of the City of Copenhagen unique urban character. The new city district is an urban model for XXI Century sustainable urban development and vibrant metropolitan life and partakes in the making of Copenhagen a global city of tomorrow.
Nordhavnen finds its unique contribution as a distinct part of Copenhagen in the fantastic location of the district. Nordhavnen is where Copenhagen meets the Oresund. The special soul, character and identity of the urban plan relates directly to the position of the area vis a vis the water surrounding the site in three sides and the open views of the Oresund and the horizon.
The overall plan for Nordhavnen provides multiple alternatives for waterfront living in a sustainable urban, social and economical environment. The density of the plan supports urban culture and the urban ensemble provides a comprehensive system of public spaces and parks in walking proximity to combine exciting urban life and green living as part of a XXI Century new urban model to be known in the future as: “the Copenhagen sustainable way”.
